Fort Bend Municipal Utility District No. 116 (FBMUD 116) is pleased to announce the adoption of enhanced property tax exemptions designed to provide meaningful relief to residents across the district.
The Board of Directors has approved a $30,000 exemption for homeowners aged 65 and older and for individuals with disabilities, recognizing the unique financial challenges faced by residents on fixed or limited incomes. This exemption is intended to help eligible residents remain in their homes and maintain long-term financial stability.
In addition, FBMUD 116 has implemented a 20% general residential homestead exemption applicable to qualified primary residences within the district. This measure reduces the taxable value of homesteads, offering broad-based tax relief to homeowners and supporting overall housing affordability.
These actions reflect the District’s continued commitment to responsible governance and to supporting the well-being of its residents. By increasing exemptions, FBMUD 116 aims to ease the property tax burden while fostering a stable and thriving community.
Residents are encouraged to ensure they have filed for applicable exemptions through the Fort Bend County Appraisal District to take full advantage of these benefits.
